My Uncle Enrico (Henry/Hank) served in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in England. When we first met, he told my cousins and me an unusual war story. While Uncle Henry was cleaning his uniform with gasoline, as soldiers often did, someone nearby lit a cigarette, and he was suddenly engulfed in flames. His friend saved his life by putting out the fire, but Uncle Henry was severely burned. This image was produced using letters he wrote back home while recovering in the hospital.
