In the east wing of Viborg Kunsthal, Stine Deja presents the solo exhibition Micro Management. A total installation that examines human existence in a world of extreme natural conditions and hypertechnology.
In an uncanny laboratory, the extremophile tardigrade becomes the focal point for a reflection on survival in hostile environments. Deja’s works take their point of departure in humanity’s search for immortality - from ancient myths to modern experiments with cryonics and genetic modification.
The installation explores the idea of a hybrid between human and tardigrade. A vision that is not far from reality, as researchers are already experimenting with tardigrade genes in human stem cells. The monumental human–tardigrade hybrid can be experienced from both the ground floor and the first floor, while incubators containing tardigrade eggs reinforce the sense of scientific experimentation.
