Maksym Son (Katsevych)
Born 1999, Lutsk, Ukraine
Maksym Son explores the relationship between humans and the natural environment, as well as the spiritual practices embedded in everyday life. His work engages with materials and imagery that reveal the rupture between humans and nature, where humanity is no longer part of an integrated whole.
Since 2016, Maksym has developed as a graffiti and street artist, which led to a conscious artistic practice beginning in 2018. In 2021, he graduated from Lutsk National Technical University with a degree in Graphic Design.
In his contemporary practice, Maksym works across multiple media, including graphic arts, collage, sound, sculpture, and photography. His recent work focuses on the human figure within a “primordial” environment, examining encounters with corporeality, memory, and vulnerability to the surrounding environment.
Lives and works in Ukraine.
