The exhibition brings together eight large-format works recently made in mild steel, in which the artist brings to the wall a sculptural investigation centered on line, void, and forms drawn from everyday imagery. The exhibition will be on view through Saturday, October 3.
OHNO gallery presents Excusas espirituales, a solo exhibition by Mariano Ullua bringing together eight works recently made from 4-gauge wire, also known as mild steel, using flux-core welding. The exhibition, which opened on August 14, continues an investigation the artist has been developing through three-dimensional sculpture and proposes a new displacement of these forms onto the wall.
In these works, Ullua preserves the spatial character of his previous works in mild steel, but alters their relationship to space by placing them on a two-dimensional surface. The wall thus functions both as a support and as an active part of the works: the metal lines cut through space, delimit figures, and produce images through…
