Biography
Maia del Estal (b. 1993, Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a self-taught visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York working across painting, performance, poetry and sound.
Born into a family of artists, del Estal was exposed from an early age to poetry readings, artist studios, painting workshops, and experimental image-making, that shaped the foundation of her practice.
Her work explores emotional intensity, materiality, memory, and the body through abstraction and figuration. Creating from personal narratives, her paintings function as psychological landscapes where experiences of trauma, intimacy, healing, and desire are translated into gesture, color, and material experimentation. Through this process, she creates layered visual compositions that oscillate between vulnerability and force.
