In Tom, Nancy Lupo constructs a scenario based on the iceberg fantasy Disko, in which the longing for the sublime is disrupted by disappearance, logistics, and opaque human dramas. Named after her Airbnb host in Disko Bay in Greenland, Tom embodies a generic character – someone, anyone, no one. The exhibition is a development of Disko (Kunstverein Kevin, Vienna, September 13–November 15, 2025), in which Lupo outlined her ambivalent attraction to Greenland: an enchanted landscape overshadowed by geopolitical anxieties, power claims, and extractivist ways of thinking.
