Lab: Memungut Ingatan, Meramu Harapan is both the title and the presentation space for experiments by artists and curators at the Sangkasa gallery, responding to how human understanding of the environment, social life, and physicality becomes a source of imagination and reflection in a single space. It explores environmental changes that trigger conflict, turbulent social relations, and questions of individual identity due to trauma, which is one of the gateways to human connection. In this context, the word “memungut” (to gather) was chosen to represent the process of artists sorting through scattered memories in their daily lives to create narratives, and the word “meramu” (to concoct) was chosen to represent the process of artists and curators weaving together the common thread between the materials and discourse collected to create works of art.
