Is the darkness we came from the same darkness we return to? None of us can remember our own beginning, nor live to tell of the journey’s end. Grinding its teeth, time stuffs the days that make up life into its mouth, rolling them about inside. Is life a continous darkness, interrupted only by time’s polished molars slowly chewing away? Or is it more like a circular saw devouring the ground on which it stands, its blade spinning furiously about its axis?
In Når jeg dør skal jeg storme ut i verden (When I Die I Will Storm Out into the World), Tore Magne Gundersen invites you into a universe where existensial questions and ambiguous, energetic sensations prevail. Dominated by towering figures and forms, the large textiles are at once strangely alarming and reassuring. They are new acquaintences, yet there is an underlying sense that one is actually encountering them again, as if these monumental forms have always been lying latent…
