Press Release
Lot C is an exhibition of new, existing, and adapted works by Jason Hirata and Park McArthur. It is the first opportunity to experience the interaction between their respective practices, which have been intertwined both conceptually and in their realization for over a decade.
The title is taken from a passage in McArthur’s Day (2023–): “I owe you a beach day. Meet at parking lot C? No. It’s low tide. It’s so low we can drive onto it.” In this work, the description of a trip to the seaside, written as a “love letter against ongoing isolation,” becomes a framework for the exhibition, which also extends beyond INCURVA. For example, Hirata’s new work, Circle (2026), is a printed card bearing a request to drive to the Lazzaretto, a former nineteenth-century quarantine station at the westernmost point of Trapani. Today a place to sit and spend time together during the summer months, the road leading to it makes a loop around a large open space before returning to the city.
