Press Release

Afternoon Projects is thrilled to present What I felt for you was love, a group exhibition featuring work from Qian Cheng, Jonathan Xue, Sofia Yao and Caroline Zhang. This group exhibition showcases a collection of painting and drawing work centred around intimate experiences formed by feelings of understanding, hoping, and believing, not out of conviction, but from lived experience.

Artist Bio

Qian Cheng is an artist and organiser interested in drawing and collaborative artistic interventions that provide generative solutions and perspectives, guided by her lived experience as a first-generation Chinese Canadian. She is a founding member of This Useful Time Machine, a collective that uses performance and lived experience to unpack difficult scenarios within cultural institutions. Her work has been included in group and solo exhibitions at Dreams Comma Delta, Ladner (2022); The New Gallery, Calgary (2021); Surrey Art Gallery, Surrey (2021). Additional projects include nap gallery (2022)…
