Daša Kulikova is a Belarusian visual artist working primarily in painting. She earned her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond VA as a Fulbright scholar in 2026, and holds a BFA from Belarusian State Academy of Arts, Minsk, Belarus (2021). She is currently based in Richmond, VA, where she teaches at VCU Arts.
Shaped by distance and displacement, Kulikova’s work finds its ground in the tension between the desire to detach from the past and heal, and longing for home and connection. Operating through fragments, repetitions, and shifts, the paintings exist as open fields holding uncertainty, contradiction, and embodied experience without resolving into a fixed image or narrative. Painting practice becomes an event of contact with what is lost, or unclear or in the process of becoming through accumulating layers, marks, erasures and traces of the process of its making.
