Description
Utnapishtim's house (2025) is a large stone sculpture inspired on a dream of The Flood. The sculpture links to Biblical themes about Noah and the flood, erasing all life from the planet. Robbert and Frank link the Noah story to other flood stories, think of Gilgamesh and many others. They focus on similarities and doing so, they try to unravel a common subliminal message.
The backside of the megalith is also based on a dream; funny enough it appears that the image in the dream resembles the famous 'Candelabra del Andes', a giant outline in the sands of Latin America, on the border of the ocean and the mountains. Frank dreamed this image, before ever realizing that the image already exists in a very similar shape.
This work is about the collective subconsciousness, cyclical patterns and the interconnection between humans over generations.
