Biography
Steven Cabral (b. 1978, Cambridge, MA) is a Boston-based painter whose work explores the nuanced spaces between presence and pause, order and chaos, certainty and ambiguity. His paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries, including Mtn Space Gallery, Kingston Gallery, and The Painting Center. Cabral earned his BFA in Painting from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and his MFA from Lesley University College of Art and Design. He creates mixed-media paintings that meditate on fleeting moments of perceptual shift and suspended time. His process is deeply intuitive and materially responsive, involving the pouring, staining, sanding, addition, and removal of surface layers—continually broken apart and recombined—in an ongoing dialogue with sensation, memory, and emotional resonance. He lives and works in Somerville, MA
