Biography
Sebastián Espejo (b. 1990, Viña del Mar, Chile) is a Chilean artist based in London whose practice centres on painting as a form of attention. His work explores the language of painting in relation to the natural world, living organisms, visual experience, and the perception of light. He studied Visual Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and has since exhibited widely across Chile, the UK, the USA, France, South Korea, and Taiwan. In 2025, Espejo was named a finalist, for the second time, for Jackson’s Art Prize and was shortlisted for the John Moores Painting Prize. In the same year, he completed the Offsite Programme at Turps Art School and took part in the residency programme of Heritage Explore and The Dot Project at Drumlanrig Castle, Scotland. His work is currently included in a group presentation at Union Pacific, London, and he will present his debut solo exhibition in New York at Slip House in May 2026.
