Biography
Luise Marchand studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig (HGB), graduating with distinction in Photography under Professor Peter Piller in 2016. She then stuck around as a Meisterschülerin of Peggy Buth and Peter Piller (2017–2019), with a detour to the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2018.
Along the way, her work has picked up a number of awards and grants, including the G2 Kunsthalle Prize, the Wüstenrot Foundation Award for Documentary Photography, the Kunstverein Hannover Prize, funding from Stiftung Kunstfonds and the Berlin Senate, and artist residencies at MuseumsQuartier Vienna and Salzamt Linz in 2024 and 2025.
Her work has travelled more than she has (arguably), appearing in exhibitions at Camera Austria Graz, Dom Museum Vienna, Bauhaus Dessau, Fotomuseum Winterthur, Museum Folkwang Essen, and the Museum of Fine Arts Leipzig, among many others.
