Biography
Cristina Escobar is a Cuban visual artist currently living and working in France. She is a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Nancy. Her practice, at the intersection of drawing, sculpture, installation and performance, explores the relationships between memory, territory, displacement, exile and identity. Working with objects, narratives and materials charged with social history, she develops often participatory works in which individual memories encounter collective imaginaries.
Her work has been presented in several institutions and events in France and internationally, notably at MAC Marseille as part of the Triennale De leur Temps — La Vie Climatique (ADIAF, 2026), at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Doual’art in Douala (2026), at the Musée de l’Hospice Saint-Roch as part of La Passion du Dessin — Collection Guerlain (2024), at the Musée du Quai Branly and the Fondation François Schneider (2021), as well as at 49 Nord 6 Est — FRAC Lorraine (2023).
