‘Taco Boom’, located in the kitchen of a former Mexican restaurant, marks the one-year anniversary of the opening of the Salon Krasoty and simultaneously sets the stage for a dialogue with the first exhibition, ‘Peterburg-style shaverma’ (2024), structurally and conceptually echoing it.
The main theme of this initial project for the new season is a discussion about the Petersburg scene, as well as about temporality, both of the Salon Krasoty project itself and of similar initiatives.
After a year, there is a shift from the symbolic kebab setting to a real kitchen space with an expanded roster of participants, which in essence becomes deactivated (“La Cucaracha” — the first Mexican restaurant in Saint Petersburg — was closed in 2014, and the space remained vacant until 2025).
The assembly is based both on the initial location and on the experience of the first exhibition, constructing meanings on top of it and offering, at minimum, another area for reflection — recursiveity.
