In her secÂond solo exhiÂbiÂtion at PALAS, TamaÂra HenÂderÂson presents TantraÂmar: The Eight Legs of Life, an evolvÂing body of work first develÂoped for WarÂrnamÂbool Art Gallery.
ExpandÂing her mythoÂlogÂiÂcal lexÂiÂcon, HenÂderÂson revisÂits the recurÂring figÂures of Sound ShepÂard and SunÂspiÂder, and unearths their alchemÂiÂcal counÂterÂpart, Wiseguide. EmbodyÂing the tantric dualÂiÂties of moveÂment and stillÂness, these cosÂmic comÂpanÂions drift through a terrain where sculpÂture, paintÂing, and sound sway togethÂer in a hypÂnotÂic groove.
In diaÂlogue with the unseen sysÂtems of life, rhythm, and transÂforÂmaÂtion, HenÂderÂson evokes a dense, ferÂtile murk — a susÂtainÂing ground that holds her narÂraÂtive and nourÂishÂes the evolvÂing ecosysÂtem of sculpÂture, paintÂing, and sound. This conÂverÂgence of forms and figÂures points toward the quiÂet play of mysÂtery and form that coursÂes through her pracÂtice — and toward Mar, the sea that carÂried them all here.
