In She said Rain, Marie Lund transforms mundane, found materials, often used in industrial fabrication and construction. Through relating seemingly disparate elements, she engages in a sort of reverse engineering, baring inherent qualities, and exposing structural functions and mutual dependencies. A new series of wall-mounted sculptures combines rubber and copper, two materials with opposite physical properties yet fundamentally complementary in all modern electrical installations. New large-scale works, Both Arms, reference a type of roof fittings, which act as an essential structural support in buildings, exploring the relationship between the holding and the held.
