Now Playing! is an exhibition that explores the layered intersections of memory, media, and identity through a series of short experimental films and digital works on paper. This exhibition invites audiences into a speculative archive, where the invisible becomes visible, and where histories, personal, cultural, and political, are not just revisited, but reassembled. It is both a cinematic meditation on identity in flux, and a critical call to rethink authorship, representation, and the performance of self in a hyper-mediated world.
Sourcing from the endless stream of digital and social media content, Buie deconstructs and reframes moving images through the lens of her lived experience as a Black woman in contemporary America. These works serve as both a reflection and a critique, examining how Black identity is performed, circulated, and consumed in the digital landscape.
