Laura Helena Wurth: The past is like a ghost that is difficult to tame
The past is like a house ghost that is difficult to tame. It squeezes through the smallest crack — no matter how securely you think you‘ve locked it away — and ends up back at the door. Asking „Did you miss me?“ and making itself comfortable.
Perhaps it is precisely the footprints that can be seen in the photograph „T.b.a.m.f.s.A.t.j.w.t.d.O.o.t.d.t.b.a.g.S.a.o.y (XXV)“ that tell what has happened and is still happening there, in this landscape that once flourished. It is this landscape, which Eric Meier has declared his object of research, that he examines and dissects in his exhibition „Flaschen & Geister“ („Bottles & Ghosts“). Meanwhile immortalised in concrete, the continuity of history is revealed in the profiles of the soles of shoes.
