Silent Stars is Mahsa Merci first North American solo exhibition with works dedicated to the trans experience. By using diverse mediums, painting, sculpture, and animation, Merci aims to show different aspects of gender, identity, sexuality and redefine the meaning of beauty. As part of the LGBTQIA+ community, she portrays selected community members to examine the definition of male/female, softness/harshness, beauty/grotesque and hidden/visible.


"This exhibition is a teaching moment, reflecting the identities of a part of our global community previously underrepresented,” says Farnoosh Talaee, co-founder of Mayten’s. “Everyone should be able to see themselves, their cultures, their identities, and their passions reflected in our collections and exhibitions. Educating everyone is at the core of our mission."


Silent Stars will also be included at the year’s Art Toronto. Mahsa Merci will feature two sculptures at the in-person fair October 29-31st allowing visitors to contemplate their…

Silent Stars is Mahsa Merci first North American solo exhibition with works dedicated to the trans experience.
