"Anaïs Gauthier's immersive installations simulate life that stubbornly persists in the face of failure. She creates all kinds of chain reactions within a paradoxical ecosystem where the organic and the mechanical merge without ever quite managing to come to terms with each other. Exhaustion is symptomatic of this mutual rejection. Yet these technological reliquaries and autoimmune forms depend on each other. Connected, wired, intubated, they are linked by a makeshift system that keeps them in a state of mutual motor and emotional distress. This invasive apparatus forces them to share everything: the resources they generate as well as those they excrete. Limited, does this body-machine have any choice but to resist?"
