Danish artist Frederik Exner is interested in art history, archaeology, beliefs, and mythological narratives, which he intertwines to create a non-linear narrative in which past, present, and future seem to lose all meaning. Haunted by a medievalist memory, Exner compiles his inventory of strange elements and anachronisms that a thread of survival patiently unravels across the ages. Through his figurative sculptures—half-human, half-animal, at times object-like or architectural—he recounts the story of ghostly times and blurs the markers of now and yesterday. In this fictional universe, densely populated with syncretic and monstrous works, the frog, unloved in fairy tales and legends, has become a totem.

Thus, the immaculate space of the art center is plunged into a sedimented and alternative time. There, a cohort of sculptural frogs made of polyurethane foam transforms the visitors’ path into an uncanny experience. Nine large animal figures, mounted on nine metal pedestals, stare…
