Ground features new sculptures and a sound piece by Julia Znoj, alongside works by Julija Zaharijevićand Eliane Bertschi. Starting from the abstraction of the container as a space of the theoretical and technological complications, Znoj’s sculptural proposals become feline vessels. The other artists may respond by looking at the space at hand through a dereal cat perspective.
Julia Znoj (b. 1990, Bern, Switzerland) currently lives and works between Vienna and Thun. In her practice she moves through a variety of materials–such as metal, plastic, paper, sugar and cloth, but also found and previously discarded objects. She engages with the notions of form and abstraction, and how disparate items and structures can materialize as sculptures in temporary settings, considering the representation of horizontality and the ornamental in art and architecture.
