Karma International presents two concurrent exhibitions: LISL by Elisabeth Wild and Snake Nights by Vivian Suter. The presentation brings into focus the intertwined yet distinct practices of mother and daughter, shaped by displacement, migration, and sustained artistic dedication across decades and continents.


Elisabeth Wild’s life was marked by successive migrations. Born in Vienna as Elisabeth Pollak, she fled with her family to Buenos Aires in 1939, escaping Nazism. There, she designed textile patterns for her husband’s factory while raising her daughter, Vivian. In 1962, amid rising antisemitism in Argentina, the family relocated to Basel. In 2007, in her seventies, Wild moved again—this time to Panajachel, Guatemala, where Suter had been living since 1983.


Wild began making collages in the 2000s, first sporadically and then with increasing regularity. Working at a small table, she sourced imagery from magazines devoted to interior decoration, lifestyle, fashion, cosmetics, and art.…
