Wildness in this work, sometimes functions as a synonym for queerness, but it is also a mode of being that lies outside of the systems of classification that nest human bodies into clear and non-overlapping categories.
“Wildness names the potential of certain forms of desire to stray beyond the boundaries of family and home. Wildness offers an alternative history of sexuality within which the so-called natural world is neither the backdrop for human romance nor the guarantor of normativity. The sculptures take uncomfortable objects up into themselves and make them their own. They situate them in a queer context and use their rough qualities against themselves.
