FAUSTO AMUNDARAIN
THE PRETENDER'S ATTREZZO
Galerie Heike Strelow is pleased to present The Pretender's Attrezzo, the first solo exhibition
in Germany by Venezuelan artist Fausto Amundarain (Caracas, 1992), who lives and works
in Madrid.
The exhibition brings together a new series of paintings in which Amundarain explores the
relationships between identity, representation, and memory. Created entirely through
painterly means, his compositions evoke the language of collage, combining fragmentation,
layering, and trompe-l'œil effects to create spaces where image, object, and fiction
converge.
Drawing on references from painting, cinema, and stage design, the works examine how
individuals construct and project versions of themselves through symbols, characters, and
narratives. At the same time, the artist incorporates autobiographical elements and
fragments of memory that appear only partially, suggesting ongoing processes of
reconstruction and personal transformation.
