With PUBLIC AND BEYOND JUDGMENT, the G2 Kunsthalle presents the first institutional solo exhibition of New York-based painter Jeanette Mundt in Germany. In addition to paintings, the artist will create a site-specific mural for the exhibition. Mundt combines references from art history and pop culture with personal elements, pursuing the goal of continuously reinventing the image. As a result, her work is not defined by a single, consistently developed style, but rather by an ongoing process of exploration and reorientation that absorbs, distorts, and transforms the collective flood of images like a resonating body. In doing so, she makes clear that one’s perspective is never constant, and that both perception and its interpretation are subject to continuous change.Her work examines the genesis of images, from their creation, perception, and shifting meanings to their deconstruction, thereby revealing the ambivalence of images between construction and reality.
