Transparences liquides (Liquid transparencies) brings together still and moving images that gradually reveal themselves, raising the question of the time required for looking. Rich in detail and nuance, sometimes pared down yet enigmatic, each work sets, in its own way, the conditions for a perceptual experience that can make us more aware of the very act of observing. From this perspective, they problematize our (in)attention in the face of contemporary media flows.
Understood as an embodied gesture, rooted in a specific space-time, vision lies at the core of all the practices presented, though they address multiple themes. Laure Tiberghien, for instance, explores the emergence of a motif through a protocol that gives central importance to bodily movement and gestures performed in the photographic laboratory, in constant negotiation with chemistry, light, and time.
