Press Release

Opening: Thursday 4 th June, 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

Tommaso Corvi-Mora is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by Imran Qureshi, his eighth at the gallery.

The exhibition will feature a new body of work: a group of water tanks decorated with patterns from the Multani traditio n of architectural ceramic tilework.

Water tanks on top of buildings in Pakistan are an essential part of the infrastructure for storing water. Because water supply is intermittent, they act as a reserve, ensuring water availability during shortages. They are ubiquitous; often made of PVC in a deep blue colour, their silhouette has become a feature across the country.

Imran Qureshi had a group of tanks decorated by Muhammad Shahzaib and his workshop.

Muhammad Shahzaib belongs to one of the oldest Kashkari families of Multan and is part of the seventh generation in his family preserving this historic craft.

The exhibition will also include a group of miniature paintings inspired by the water tanks.
