Description

Round & Round

Based on a casual drawing, hands and arms are plasma-cut from aluminum. The forms are rolled or partially rolled, evoking a wheel or a seesaw. The inner surfaces of the hands face alternately inward and outward, so that a left and a right hand appear in turn—as parts of the same body. The posture is partly familiar and partly unusual. One hand reaches into the armpit. Individual body parts become independent forms: the arm-hand elements appear as autonomous units without a complete body. The two sculptures stand directly on the floor and seem as if they could move through the space.
