Description
Painter Nuri Yakupoğlu has been invited to present a solo exhibition titled “Return to Old Crimea” at the Aivazovsky National Art Gallery in Feodosia. The exhibition will feature approximately 35 works by the artist and is scheduled to take place between 30 May and 30 June 2026. It will be hosted in the historic museum setting dedicated to Ivan Aivazovsky’s legacy.
Nuri Yakupoğlu is a contemporary realist painter known for his atmospheric seascapes and use of light, continuing the tradition of marine painting. Ivan Aivazovsky, a leading 19th-century marine artist, is renowned for his dramatic depictions of light, water, and movement. Exhibiting Yakupoğlu’s works in the same historic museum as Aivazovsky creates a symbolic dialogue between two different periods of marine painting within a shared visual context.
Born in 1963, Crimean Turkish artist Nuri Yakupoğlu graduated with distinction from the P. Benkov Republican Art School and later completed his studies with top honors at the Moscow State Academic Art Institute (Surikov Institute). He is known for his Istanbul landscapes, Bosphorus views, historical cities of Crimea, and seascapes. To date, he has participated in over 150 solo and group exhibitions and has received international attention.
