It sounds like a fragment of a conversation never meant to travel beyond its moment. Spoken in private, it carries an anxious foreboding, signalling the atmosphere yet to unfold. It offers no olive branch, only a stage for confrontation. A return stripped of nostalgia or sentiment, a relationship that has reached its expiration date—mutually dispensable. A hard slap and the erasure of personal space. A disinfected sky with no room left for illusion.

Lubomír Typlt is one of the most distinguished representatives of the middle generation of contemporary Czech figurative painting. Born in 1975 in the Czech town of Nová Paka, he currently lives and works in Prague and Pičín. Between 1993 and 1997, he studied in the studio of illustration of Prof. Jiří Šalamoun; between 1997 and 2001, he worked in the painting studio of Prof. Jiří Načeradský at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology, and completed his studies between 1998 and 2005 at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf in the…
