The first solo exhibition in Chicago by Kristin Reger, a participant in the 2015 Educational Program, is open at the Stasias Gallery.
The work that Reger presents for this exhibition addresses suspended, indeterminate and deferred states of being. The artist is interested in examining how existence is recognized and delimited, as well as the affectation of bodies and cognition as well as space and time. His work extends to how the incorporeal is represented, using draping, voids and weightlessness, representations of disembodied entities.
The title of the exhibition, Calypto, is a Greek root word meaning to be covered or hidden. Reger's work uses this concealment to poetically suggest entities with structures of being unstable and fragile. In this way, he manages to subtly come into contact with concepts whose direct reference would be difficult to touch.
Until May 1 in Chicago, United States.
