Between the radiant, sun-drenched Dubrovnik and the gloomy greyness of a Zagreb winter stands the painting of Mihaela Rašica. The artist, originally from the renowned city at the far south of Croatia, will pack her belongings at the end of summer and set off for Zagreb, where she has lived and worked professionally since her student days. One cannot fail to notice that the spirit of the Mediterranean never leaves Rašica’s personality, something most clearly reflected in her paintings of a highly specific, poetic expression, in which colour—and the volume of space, figures, objects and faces shaped by it—forms a vital component.

Less than half a year has passed since the painter’s last exhibition in her native city, held at the Dubrovnik Dulčić Masle Pulitika Gallery, whose foreword was written by another Dubrovnik native, the exhibition’s curator Jelena Tamindžija Donnart.
